Train with East Texas Krav Maga, professional Krav Maga Instructors, to learn practical self defense and get your body in top condition. Krav Maga is the workout that will save your life.

Krav Maga is not fighting in a ring. It is a system designed to prepare you for real threats. Krav Maga has been tested in battle, law enforcement, and civilian situations. You will quickly learn effective self-defense techniques and tactics, because Krav Maga is based upon principles and not techniques.

These instinctive movements are easy to learn and easy to remember under stress. The movements are not dependent on size, strength, or special physical ability, so Krav Maga techniques can be used effectively by men and women of all ages.

This system was designed to quickly enable anyone to defend themselves. The Israeli Defense Force created and has used Krav Maga for over 50 years; the system is now rapidly spreading across the United States and all around the world.

In order for our students to get the best training possible in the shortest time possible, we have broken down our training into Six Levels. Below is a brief description of each level.

This entry level class is designed for all new Krav Maga students. The goal of the class is to teach the basics of self defense and fighting. Students will learn Krav Maga’s fighting stance and movement, various punches, kicks from standing position as well as from on the ground, elbows and knees, and how to defend against punches, chokes, headlocks and wrist grabs. Students who train an average of two to three times per week should expect to complete the curriculum in two to four months before testing into KM Level 2.
In this intermediate level class, students will continue to review and hone the skills learned in KM Level 1, as well as learn additional punches and kicks, punch defenses with counterattacks, kick defenses, and defenses against various chokes, headlocks, and bearhugs. Students who train an average of two to three times per week should expect to complete the curriculum for this level in six to nine months before testing into KM Level 3.
In this level, students will continue to train on strikes, defenses against strikes, and self defense, including more advanced techniques and combinations. Sparring is introduced on a more routine basis at this level as are multiple attackers. Students who train two to three times per week should expect to be ready to test for Level 4 Green Belt in nine to twelve months.
This curriculum includes additional punches and kick combinations and more defenses against punches, kicks, chokes, bear hugs, headlocks and hair grabs. At this level, members will train in more “disadvantageous” positions as well defend against knives, guns, and sticks. Members who train two to three times per week should expect to be ready to test for Blue Belt in twelve months.
Everything goes! High intensity training against armed and unarmed attackers! This class is for advanced members only and covers all the advanced curriculum including fighting, ground fighting, advanced self defense, all weapons defenses, and third party attacks and protection. This class is by invitation only.
This class is for elite students only and covers all the advanced curriculum including fighting, weapons retention, anti terrorist training, ground fighting, advanced self defense, all weapons defenses, and third party protection. This class is by invitation only.

ACT, or Armed Civilian Tactics, is exactly what it sounds like. Although Tactical Krav Maga trains literally HUNDREDS of Law Enforcement and military personnel yearly, we recognize that most of that training does not apply to every day citizens. The training time, tactics, tools and other force multipliers simply do not exist for the homeowner that’s trying to defend his family from a violent home invasion. Only Tactical Krav Maga’s ACT program addresses this in a manner that doesn’t attempt to force the homeowner peg into a military hole.

Our firearms training is split into 9 different Sections or Courses for students to take. Each course is Modular and the modules are completed over a number of weeks to complete the Course. Some Modules have no prerequisite training requirements but some need students to either of completed other ETKM Firearms Training Courses or to be able to demonstrate a suitable level of skill. Typically this will be way of professional training with Law Enforcement or Military.

Krav Maga for American Law Enforcement has the primary objectives of Officer Safety and Subject Control. In the past, most AC/DT systems for LE focused on control techniques that are designed to minimize the likelihood of injury to a suspect while taking custody thereby avoiding lawsuits to the agency. The problem was that those techniques never work in the real world environment when a suspect is actively fighting or attacking an Officer. A ‘wrist-lock’ takedown to cuffing technique really only really works 1-on-1 if the suspect allows it to. This lead to officers wasting time trying ineffective techniques, allowing suspects to gain the upper hand in an altercation, and causing Officers to have to escalate force far beyond what may have been called for in the first place.

The Krav Maga Defensive Tactics system was designed specifically from the other direction…that is, that we train officers what to do when it has gone bad, seriously bad. We first give them the tools to survive violent encounters, and then build in control tactics and techniques that put the officer on the high ground once the situation is beginning to be controlled. We repeat this mantra over and over…”Stop the problem, gain safe control…..Stop the problem, gain safe control.” In a nutshell that is exactly what the system is designed to do.

Because we give officers life saving tools that not only work but are proven time and time again to work in the street under stress, we are inherently also giving the officers a higher command presence, and that leads to fewer violent altercations in the street. We approach every contact from a position of advantage or of control…of the situation, our environment, and of the subject.
